José Barrientos currently holds a private saxophone studio consisting over 80 students in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex and is also Director of the Texas Youth Saxophone Ensemble. Mr. Barrientos's passion for teaching has allowed many of his students to be more successful as musicians. Teaching saxophonists from all age groups, Mr. Barrientos hopes to inspire the next generation of saxophonists.

Much of his students have garnered numerous awards such as Outstanding Soloist and Outstanding Ensemble at Solo & Ensemble competitions, Superior awards at State Solo & Ensemble, and Award Winners at concerto competitions. Mr. Barrientos also spends a vast amount of his time teaching masterclasses across Texas and works with his students that also participate in saxophone quartets and large saxophone ensembles. Mr. Barrientos has also taken the Timber Creek HS Saxophone Ensemble to perform at the 2019 Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) in San Antonio, TX.

The Timber Creek HS Saxophone Ensemble also recently learned that they have been invited to perform at the prestigious 2019 Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic.

The Midwest Clinic International Band, Orchestra and Music Conference each year displays top ensembles throughout the music conference to showcase the newest ideas and talent. From students to professionals, performers have a chance to exhibit their talents to a supportive and enthusiastic audience with an interest in furthering music education.

The TCHS Saxophone Ensemble will join 18,000 attendees from all 50 states and more than 30 countries in Chicago, December 18-21.
